The Image to Text tool runs optical character recognition directly in your browser using Tesseract, pulling readable text out of a photo or screenshot. Because it runs on your device the image is never uploaded, though large images take a little time to process the first time the engine loads.
Frequently asked questions
The OCR engine and its language data download to your browser the first time you use it, which adds a few seconds. After that it is cached and runs faster. Clear handwriting and high-contrast images give the best results.
